From JpgWiki
The JpgWiki project
After one year experience with high volume JpgTV (http://www.jpgtv.com) image search from Yahoo, Google and Live, the product team and JpgTV users conclude that the relevance from these search engines are far from good. Yahoo is best, Google return high number of hits but has poor relevance. A common feedback from JpgTV users is that they want to compile collections of images for any subject/topic and store them in the cloud.
Our answer to these two observations is to launch this user driven wiki site where people can store relevant collections of image links for any subject/topic. The JpgWiki can be seen as a open database where end users populate and control data quality with the help of the JpgTV application and Media Wiki technologies. The idea of this site is to achieve a high quality user driven image archive. We want a subject and user centric approach with focus on quality and relevance before quantity. E.g. the idea is that sometimes you would rather have 50 quality images of a topic from JpgWiki rather than 20 000 unfocused hits from Google or Yahoo.
